Plant Welfare
Animal protection
Protects young trees, whips and hedging plants from browsing animals, particularly rabbits, helping to improve plant establishment and reduce losses during the early growing years.
Light transmission
The translucent material allows natural light to reach developing stems and foliage, supporting photosynthesis and healthy early-stage growth.
Wind protection
Provides a protective barrier around vulnerable young stems, helping to reduce exposure to wind and other environmental stresses during establishment.
Reduced abrasion
The flexible wrap design fits around the stem and can expand with plant growth, helping to reduce the risk of restriction when correctly installed and monitored.
Herbicide protection
Helps shield young plants from accidental herbicide and pesticide spray during surrounding vegetation management and weed control.
Flexible spiral design
The wrap-style construction allows the guard to fit snugly around young stems while accommodating growth, making it particularly suitable for slender whips and newly planted hedging.
Natural expansion
Unlike rigid protective tubes, the flexible spiral structure can gradually expand as the plant develops, providing continued protection during its early establishment period.
Lifespan
Biodegradable material
Manufactured from a certified biodegradable biopolymer designed to break down naturally in soil without leaving harmful microplastic residues.
Certified Soil Biodegradable
TÜV Austria OK Biodegradable SOIL certification provides reassurance that the material is capable of biodegrading in soil under the certification's test conditions.
3–5 years protection
Offers an expected protective service life of approximately 3–5 years, depending on weather, soil conditions and planting location, helping support young plants through their important early growth stages.

Flexible wrap design
The spiral wrap construction allows the guard to be fitted quickly around young stems without the need for complicated fastenings or specialist equipment.
Single-cane installation
Requires just one bamboo cane or small supporting stake, making installation straightforward and economical for large-scale planting projects.
Translucent material
The translucent finish allows natural light to reach the protected plant, supporting healthy development without completely enclosing the stem in an opaque material.
Quick installation
Designed for fast deployment across woodland, hedgerow and environmental planting schemes, helping reduce installation time and associated labour costs.
No removal needed
The guard can be left in place to biodegrade naturally, removing the need for costly collection, transport and disposal after the planting establishment period.
--Range Choices--
Height
The Rainbow Terra Biodegradable Wrap Guard is available in one height: 60cm.
This height is particularly suitable for protecting young trees, taller whips and newly planted hedgerows against rabbit browsing and accidental damage during establishment.
The 60cm guard provides protective coverage around the lower stem while allowing the plant to continue growing naturally.
It is especially useful for exposed planting sites, woodland edges and countryside hedgerows where reliable early-stage protection is important.
60cm Rainbow Terra Biodegradable Wrap Guard
The 60cm guard is ideal for hedgerow establishment, woodland edge planting and general countryside planting where young trees and hedging plants require protection against rabbits and accidental damage.
-
Height: 60cm

--Installation--
Plant
Planting bare root or cell grown whips and young trees is a straightforward task. However, do not attempt to plant if the ground is frozen or waterlogged.
Select a suitable planting position, allowing for the plant's future height and spread at maturity. Ensure there is sufficient space for the plant to develop naturally.
Bare rooted or cell grown plants can be planted in three steps:
-
Begin by inserting the blade of a spade into the ground. Push the spade handle away from you and then bring it back towards you. Once you remove the spade, you will have created a cavity or 'notch' in the ground.
-
For bare root plants – place the roots within the cavity, ensuring they are pointing downwards and are not folded or compressed. Gently shake the plant to help the roots settle into position.
For cell grown plants – place the root plug gently into the ground, following the recommended planting depth for the species. Ensure the roots are properly covered and protected from drying out.
-
Fill the cavity with soil, gently firming around the plant to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting where practical.
You are now ready to install your support and protection.
Support
-
After planting, position a bamboo cane or small supporting stake close to the base of the plant, taking care to avoid damaging the roots.
-
Push the bamboo cane securely into the ground, ensuring it is sufficiently stable to support the wrap guard throughout its expected service life.
-
Ensure the supporting cane is positioned vertically and does not place unnecessary pressure on the young stem.
-
Check that the support is secure before fitting the biodegradable wrap guard.
Protect
-
Carefully position the 60cm Rainbow Terra Biodegradable Wrap Guard around the young tree or hedging plant, starting at the base of the stem.
-
Gently wrap the spiral guard around the plant, ensuring the stem is protected without forcing or damaging any developing shoots or branches.
-
Allow the flexible 40mm diameter wrap to fit snugly around the stem, while ensuring there is sufficient room for natural growth and expansion.
-
Position the guard so that the lower section reaches ground level, helping provide protection against rabbit browsing and accidental herbicide spray.
-
Ensure the upper opening remains unobstructed, allowing natural airflow and continued plant growth.
-
Check that the supporting bamboo cane or stake is secure and that the guard remains correctly positioned around the plant.
-
Periodically inspect the guard during the establishment period to ensure the plant is growing freely and that the spiral wrap is not restricting developing stems or branches.
-
No removal required – the Rainbow Terra Biodegradable Wrap Guard is designed to remain in place and naturally biodegrade in the soil at the end of its useful life.
