Acer (Maple/Sycamore)
We provide a range of Acer bare root plants, including Acer campestre, Acer platanoides & Acer pseudoplatanus.
Field Maple (Acer campestre) is relatively quick growing and deciduous, losing leaves in the winter. Frequently used in rustic country hedges as a companion to Hawthorn and other hedgerow species.
A handsome, fast-growing tree, with attractive sharply pointed leaves which turn deep golden yellow in autumn, Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) is often mistaken for Sycamore, but it is a far superior tree. It is commonly planted as a specimen tree and in shelter-belts all over the country.
Native to Europe but naturalised in Britain, the Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) is a familiar sight in both town and countryside. A large fast-growing tree, it does well in even the most exposed and difficult situations and copes with urban pollution better than any other tree.
