The Oval Leaved Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) makes what is probably the most commonly planted urban hedge. Fast-growing, with a very dense habit, it quickly makes an impenetrable screen which ensures complete privacy.

Common Privet (Ligustrum vulgare) is a semi-evergreen (evergreen in all but the harshest winters) large shrub, with narrower, pointed dark green leaves and larger panicles of flowers, it is an excellent wildlife plant.
