The Wayfaring (Viburnum lantana) tree is a lovely flowering and berrying shrub which is often to be seen in hedgerows on chalkland in the south of England. Native to Britain, it has a long season of interest with large heads of attractive creamy flowers, red, then black berries and scarlet autumn colour.
The Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus) isn’t a rose at all, but a Viburnum. Also known as the Snowball Tree, it is one of our most attractive native shrubs with excellent wildlife and garden value. With showy leaves which develop good autumn colour, large white flowers and red berries. It has a long season of interest.
